They are making it easier and easier for nefarious threat actors to prey on their victims. In order for you to protect yourself, it is important to know what they are doing. Do you have an Google account? If so, I probably have your contact number. It is important to not pick up the phone if you’re not familiar with the caller ID.



Social Media + Deepfake AI = Victims
It’s an equation that a lot of threat actors use. Don’t allow yourself to be a solution to the equation by keeping your vigilance up and helping others learn about Hexagon Center. As we hear more and more about Deepfake AI, they are creeping into every part of our lives. Therefore, it’s not a surprise that they are in social media these days.

Deepfakes of US officials are making their way through scammer world while CAPTCHA is gaining prominence in cyber attacker world. Meanwhile, one popular smart home brand is being recommended to be banned in the United States. It can be kinda hard to keep track at times but as long as we keep our vigilance, that’s the key.



Deepfakes Targeting the Heart
What’s more effective to take one’s guard down than to target straight at the heart. Both ransomware and deepfakes exploit our trust in technology. Ransomware exploits our reliance on digital data, and deepfakes exploit our belief in visual and auditory evidence. Staying informed and practicing caution are our best defenses against these evolving threats.

Why are you still utilizing passwords? It is likely because companies continue to require their use. Ensure that your password is as lengthy as feasible. Aim for a password of 19 characters. Additionally, we can commemorate World Password Day by either updating our passwords or creating a new, more secure one.

Technology is always coming up with something new, so are threat actors. Always hesitate when giving out personal information and think twice before you send money to anyone - even if it’s someone you think you know. With AI, the person you’re talking with over the phone or video chat might not be who you think it is. A proactive and layered security approach is the most effective defense.



Imposter (voice) Scams on the Rise
They didn’t ever go away but they are rising. Reasons for the increase in a particular type of scams are usually because they have seen success in it. This week’s news is quite like the others but they are giving a lot more punch than usual. We must stay vigilant and keep vigilant. Each time you are doing something your gut tells you not to, most likely your gut is right. Double check on the identity of the person you think you know. It’s ok.



You just hired ... a North Korean?
North Korean fake worker hiring scheme involves North Korean IT workers creating fake online personas with fabricated identities and resumes to get hired by companies worldwide, often in high-paying remote technical roles. Posing as non-North Korean nationals, they secure employment across various industries.
