There’s a 99.9% chance that your data is safe …
With so many things to worry about, why worry about things you have absolutely no control of? What else is being compromised this week? What to watch out for in the future?
☝️ TOP STORY
Don’t worry about your data, think about your financial accounts
By now, it’s an incredibly safe bet to say that our data had been stolen and available in the dark web for any nefarious actors. So there’s really no reason to worry about your hospital or bank getting hacked. |
We can’t keep worrying about this:
A threat actor has found a new way of getting around multifactor authentication login defences. Researchers at Huntress say the hacker is sending mass phishing messages to targets that tricks them into signing into what they think is a Microsoft Outlook login page. Then the attacker can steal login credentials and the MFA token.
While is it very important for us all to keep our data safe, what you can do or must do is to (1) lock or freeze your credits and (2) keep a close watch on your financial accounts. Most financial institutions have features that alert you whenever there’s an activity on your account. Turn that on or use a different financial institution. #securebydesign #securebydefault

As HX Weekly goes into its 6th month, Hexagon Center will be reaching its milestone of one year since it was organized. We know that it is difficult to see the critical work that Hexagon Center does but we hope that what we do will benefit you one day.
Help this important work move along by telling a friend about HX Weekly and subscribing it.
June is our anniversary month. It is also the start of summer, which, coincidentally is when threat actors ramp up on their attacks.
June will also be the month for us to start our campaign on getting more people to subscribe to HX Weekly. Please tell your friends and family about HX Weekly, a once-a-week e-newsletter.
Meanwhile, give us any suggestions on how we can make it more appealing to the general public.
Glossary/Legend:
Cyber Attackers and Cyber Predators - these terms refer to people who use any kind of technology, including cell phones, to prey on us.
Ransomware - a type of malware that cybercriminals use to restrict access to data on a computer, device, or network until a ransom is paid. Ransomware can either encrypt files, making them unreadable, or lock a user out of their computer.
Secure by default - a holistic approach to security that aims to solve problems at their root cause, rather than treating symptoms. It's a process that should be built into products from the beginning and continue throughout their lifetime. The goal is to make products secure enough to be resilient against common exploitation techniques without additional cost or configuration.
