This edition actually focuses on our youths. Does Tracy Chapman mean AI when she said you can be someone? And with elections lighting up the globe throughout this year, we want to provide the necessary warnings to combat mis/dis/mal-information.

Safer Internet Day corrals everyone - young and old, lay and experts - to make the internet safe.

Hexagon Center takes this opportunity to make February a month to observe practices that make the internet a safer experience for all. (See more in EN below.)

Let’s start with the finance worker who paid out $25 million (see HH). Think twice or pay the price.

✍️ Noteworthy

Russia is also an acute threat, Deputy Secretary of Defense Kathleen Hicks said. "They've launched troubling influence campaigns meant to interfere in our elections and undermine our democracy, while their cyber criminals have launched damaging ransomware attacks," she said.

Behind the Ballot

Elections lighting up the globe this year and we cannot ignore cybersecurity in every aspects of it.

From misinformation, disinformation, mal-information to staffing the administration of the election, we have to constantly check the data and ourselves.

📌 Reminder of the Week

Establish More Than 1 Personal Identifier

With deepfake taking root in our society for good or for bad, it’s time to create a personal identifier among your loved ones as well as employees and coworkers. (Remember the finance worker in HH?)

In addition to random words or phrases like “crazy carrot cuddles,” you can also establish Personal Identifiers like “Where do you keep your car keys?”

It doesn’t have to be a word or phrase, it can be a situation. So that when your loved one calls to ask you to send money to him or her, you can ensure that that’s who you’re really talking with.

📱TEC TIP ✍️
If you’re about to send money to or do something for someone you don’t know, make sure you question the veracity of the person or organization you are sending money to.
