Biden Administration Forms AI Safety Institute Consortium (AISIC)

Formed on February 6, the U.S. AI Safety Institute Consortium (AISIC), will unite AI creators and users, academics, government and industry researchers, and civil society organizations in support of the development and deployment of safe and trustworthy artificial intelligence.

President Biden delivers remarks on his administration’s efforts to safeguard the development of artificial intelligence.

The consortium will be housed under the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) U.S. AI Safety Institute and will include more than 200 leading AI stakeholders.

What is it?

    • Creating standards for safety and security of AI systems.

    • Exploring methods for watermarking synthetic content like deepfakes to identify their origin.
