From big banks and hospitals to you
The relentless attacks in cyber are projected to increase considerably this year. The role of Hexagon Center is to prevent you, your family and organizations from getting victimized online in any way - criminally or socially. Help us spread the word about the Hexagon Center and this newsletter so that we can increase and improve the resources on cybersecurity.
This Week’s Cybersecurity Highlights
New federal cybersecurity rules facing hospitals: The Biden administration is proposing new cybersecurity rules for hospitals to address the rising number of cyberattacks that have crippled healthcare providers. The hospital industry is expected to oppose the new rules.
JPMorgan Chase is facing a surge in cyberattacks: 45 billion attempts bombarding the bank every day, double the number from last year. The bank is investing heavily in cybersecurity, spending $15 billion annually and employing 62,000 technologists to protect its systems. AI-powered attacks are a growing concern.
Ransomware Gang Targets Foxconn Subsidiary: LockBit ransomware gang attacked Foxsemicon, a major Taiwanese semiconductor manufacturer, threatening to leak customer data if a ransom wasn't paid. This attack underscores the growing threat of ransomware targeting critical infrastructure.
New Docker Malware Spreads Cryptojacking and Fake Traffic: Cybercriminals are using compromised Docker Hub accounts to spread malware that mines cryptocurrency and drives fake website traffic. This highlights the need for caution when downloading container images from public repositories.

The more connected we become, the more vulnerable we are.

📱TEC TIP ✍️
Do you know that in most phones, there’s a bar at the bottom of the screen when you’re in an app? That’s for you to switch from app to app when you slide it!
No More Passwords, Use Passkeys
Passkeys are stored on your device, like your phone or a physical security key, and can be used to log in to websites and apps without needing to remember or type in a password. They are more secure than passwords because they cannot be easily stolen or hacked. Passkeys are still being adopted, but they are gaining traction as more websites and apps start to support them.
One thing to think about when using passkeys is:
How Safe Is Your Face?

We are always collecting stories of people getting scammed. The more we know about them, the more we learn from them. This way, we can help you better.
Call the Hexagon Hotline before doing anything that you are not comfortable with. Criminals know that they more urgent and rushed they make you feel, the more likely you are to fall victim. DO NOT let anyone rush you to do ANYTHING you are not familiar with.
The 🐘 In The Room
Facebook tracks its users' data
And how valuable this data has become in the tech industry. If you have the Facebook app on your phone, on average, each user's data is sent to over 2,000 companies, which is used for targeted advertising.
Facebook is also being criticized for its new feature called "Link History," which saves all the links a user clicks on.

Since Last Week 🗓️
Last week, we talked about the security breach in your Google account.
We hate to talk about the same thing again in the same section but this truly belong in this section: Google doesn’t seem to have patched the flaw in the account security via third-party cookies.
Please go through your Google account’s signed-in devices like we talked about last week.
