Have you ever let strangers use your phone - for whatever reason? Strangers whom you have allowed to use your phone may hack into your mobile payment apps to steal your money and make fraudulent purchases. The Manhattan DA is urging the companies to implement better security measures. These criminals can steal thousands of dollars in seconds and that users should never give their phones to strangers.

Secure by Default

In the Headline Highlight story about Microsoft using a significantly consequential security breach to push their product, critics are saying that security should be by default. End users shouldn’t have to opt in for better security. Demand secure by default feature in all your devices.

Now, what about privacy?

Secure Your Google Account

Simply go to the link and review all the devices your account is logged into. Sign out of those you are not familiar with. Also, do you need the multi-factor authentication turned on?

📱TEC TIP ✍️
Since today’s Top Story is about app security, we thought it’ll be appropriate to tell you about the privacy options on your financial apps. Adjust the privacy options in your apps to secure them.

Title for the Editor's Note to talk about this edition.

about this edition and Inside

Inside is now inside Editor’s Note!

Rejoice! This edition is even shorter than the last and it packs more crucial information than the previous editions. However, I really think that just means a lot more is going on in cybersecurity this past week than before.

For those who simply don’t have the time, we have picked one story in “Top Story” to highlight that appears above the fold. Right after that is “Headline Highlights” - headlines of top cybersecurity stories throughout the last week.

The newsletter name has now changed to simply “Hexagon Center Weekly.” Nothing about briefing or security. It’s about Hexagon Center - which is more relevant to you - and we incorporated some critical components that will help you through the week.

Next week, if the “news gods” permitting, we’ll tell you more about the developments of Hexagon Center.
