It’s not like we didn’t know it but it has been mentioned quite a lot especially in the wake of what seems to be an accelerated attack on our healthcare system these past few weeks.

This report from 2023 pretty much sums it up. United States is in the number 1 spot with 65% of the attacks while Japan is number 2 with only 8%. We might need to ramp up the efforts here a little more at the Hexagon Center.

Cybersecurity 🛡️ Awareness 👨‍💻

You’d be surprised. Unplugging is also a form of cybersecurity to the point of powering off your WiFi! Yes, it’s a great opportunity to power off your router to “flush out the bugs.”

At any rate, enjoy this online-free day for your personal self and your online health.

*And don’t forget to tell your closest contacts what you’re doing.

Since 2009, Global Day of Unplugging has been celebrated annually in March. Whether it is 1 hour or 24 hours, at some point during the first weekend of March, people all over the world will step away from their screens and intentionally shift into an offline activity, an in-person interaction, a real-life gathering or simply a meaningful conversation about their relationship with technology.

Check out ways to unplug on the Global Day of Unplugging website at: globaldayofunplugging.org.

📌 Reminder of the Week

There are so many security concerns when you google for things like that. First of all, not everything you google, bing or search for in any search engines should be automatically deemed as correct or true.

Here are safer alternatives for getting the correct resource/information:

  • Official Website: The most secure and reliable way is to go right to the source.

  • Email: Did you ever receive an email from the organization? Look in there.

  • Official Mobile App: Much information can be obtained in the organization’s app.

Google and other search engines can be very helpful but certain types of information we get there can be used for scamming and phishing attacks.

📱TEC TIP ✍️
Remember, it's always better to be safe than sorry when dealing with your personal information and online interactions.

We are excited to move into March as many developments are underway for bringing Hexagon Center into the public eye. We continue to be a resource to bring awareness to the new and innovative ways bad actors are using to get into our pockets and turn our lives upside down.
